This afternoon I saw a performance of Red. This is John Logan's bio-drama of Mark Rothko. It is a wonderful piece of writing and the local rendition was well-performed. The play includes at least two foreshadows of Rothko committing suicide. I had not known this is how he died or, more likely, had chosen to forget. Given all that his art communicates it is an especially painful choice to confront.
