Through January 5, 2014 there is a stunning exhibit of printmaking at the National Gallery of Art. It includes several pieces by John Cage (perhaps better known as a composer).
The first image above is a print - Variations III, No. 14 - that Cage created at Crown Point Press in 1992.
The second image is my photograph of a large industrial protective screen (canvas, I think) hanging near L'Enfant Plaza in Washington DC.
The Cage print measures 17½–19¼ x 25¾–26¼ inches. The original form on which my composition is based was at least twenty-five feet high. I'm not sure of the space captured in my photograph, security fence kept me at a distance.
